IDS Project Annual Conference for 2016 (July 27 through July 29)

The IDS Project's 12th Annual Summer Conference is Thursday, July 28th and Friday, July 29th at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Albany, NY. This year's conference theme is “The Sharing Economy” and approximately 250 attendees are expected.

This year's conference is packed with information and training regarding exciting new technologies and strategies for information access, resource sharing and acquisitions/collection development. Session tracks include ILL/DD, Technology, and Collection Development. You can choose to follow an entire track or choose individual sessions from across each track. All library professionals are encouraged to attend regardless of affiliation with IDS Project.

Conference Overview


Two-Day Conference Registration:

Registration Fee: $175

Keynote Speaker: Dorothea Salo

Dorothea Salo is a Faculty Associate in the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where she teaches about organization of information, scholarly communication and open access, digital libraries and archives, database design, and linked data. In 2009 Library Journal named her a Mover and Shaker for her open-access advocacy; in 2014 and 2015, the WISE Consortium honored her for excellence in online education.

Dorothea has written and presented internationally on scholarly publishing, copyright, institutional repositories, linked data, and research-data management. She holds an MA in Library and Information Studies and another in Spanish from UW-Madison.

Conference Registration includes the following:

Hotel Room Charge: $115 per night (NYS Per Diem Rate), plus tax if applicable



All-Region User Group Meeting

 

The All-Region User Group session is separate from the Pre-Conference. This session is free for all IDS Project members. More information on registering for the All-Region User Group will be available soon. Attendees planning on attending the All-Region User Group Meeting should not register for the Pre-Conference described below.


Pre-Conference Overview

The first session on ILLiad Webpages will include modifying and enhancing your ILLiad webpages to work best for your library. Having IT experience will help though it isn't required. The second session on Creating Your Own IDS Logic Rule will be a hands-on workshop that will help you understand the basic ideas and configuration of Logic Rules and will allow you to create your own rule to run at your library.

Disclaimer: In order for Logic Rules to run, you must have Logic installed at your library and be a subscriber. Additionally, the rule you create must be installed by IDS Logic Support Staff.

Pre-Conference Registration:

Registration Fee: $100
Attendance Capped at 15 seats

Pre-Conference Registration includes the following:

  • Modifying ILLiad Webpages (9:00am-12:00pm)
  • Lunch (12:00pm-1:00pm)
  • Create Your Own IDS Logic Rule (1:00pm-4:00pm)
  • Snacks & drinks provided
